We brought Hamy home from a pet shop near our place two days ago - bought him a cage, wood shavings, alfalfa hay, drink bottle and yummy pellets. Hamy's still scared of us when we try to touch it in the cage and freezes like a statue whenever we take it out of the cage. It was scratching itself quite a bit so we took it to see a vet this morning. It was extrememly active in the car and jumped out of the box into the plastic bag. Lucky me I decided to put the box in a plastic bag instead of carrying the box. The vet gave it an injection because Hamy has mites =( - needs another two more injections every seven days. The vet says it is probably three weeks to a month old, could be a male and weighs 200g. We have removed the wood shavings from the cage as it not helpful in eliminating the mites.
